Mr. Flintstone The Teacher

Hi Jellyfish 🪼

I hope you are doing good ❤️ Today i want to talk about 21st century learning, soo let's get started!

Most of us watched the cartoon "The Flintstones" They are living in the past, and they don't have the basic things we have today, such as toothpaste, vacuum cleaners, soap, and so on. I am talking about everyday life needs that they do not have. Now, think about education. How was education at that time in the cartoon? Not even similar to today's education, right? Imagine that Mr. Flintstone became your teacher for one day. How would it be? Probably, he would not even know how to use the smart board.

Of course, I am just kidding.✨ I gave this extreme example, but sadly, there are some teachers who act as if they are from the Flintstones era. It is now 2024, and the world is changing and developing so fast in terms of technology. As teachers, we need to keep up with the world's pace. Our students are able to keep up with the pace well. In some aspects, they are faster than us to understand and use the technology. Why wouldn't we make use of their pace?

As 21st-century teachers, our students are born into such great technology. They love it and use it a lot. Therefore, instead of banning technology in the classroom and acting like Flintstones, we need to know what they want to do with technology. We can use apps and websites such as Quizlet, Quizizz, Padlet, etc. to create a technological, game-like environment for the students. We can even allow them to use AI in the classroom. However, keep in mind that, firstly, we need to talk about AI, how they can use it, how it can be useful for them, what they can create with it, etc.

What do you think about 21st-century language learning? What kind of apps or websites can you suggest to us not to be Flintstone? Please share your opinions in the comment section!

Thank you for reading 'till here.

See you next time! 🪼❤️
